Middle Class May Be Subject To Food Rations, Warns UN
Experts warn of food riots as foreign troops cleared to patrol American cities Paul Joseph Watson Prison Planet Monday, February 25th, 2008 The UN is warning of a food shortage crisis and drawing up plans for food rations which will hit even middle-class suburban populations as inflation and economic uncertainty causes the prices of staple food commodities to skyrocket. The United Nation's World Food Programme cautions today that if it doesn't receive more funding, it will have to halt food aid to developing countries like Mexico and China. "The WFP crisis talks come as the body sees the emergence of a new area of hunger in developing countries where even middle-class, urban people are being priced out of the food market because of rising food prices," reports the Financial Times. The warning coincides with a speech by William Lapp, of US-based consultancy Advanced Economic Solutions, who cautioned that rising agricultural raw material prices would translate this year into sharply higher food inflation. It also parallels a prediction by Don Coxe, a Chicago-based global portfolio strategist for BMO Financial Group who correctly forecast the fall of the dollar and the rise in price of gold and oil years in advance, who last week spoke of a "global food crisis" which will cause the world to enter into, "A period of food shortages and swiftly rising prices," leading to government embargoes. With the U.S. on the verge of a recession and, as many analysts have warned, a potential second great depression, those long scoffed at for hoarding vast quantities of storable food may unfortunately be able to say "I told you so" if the dollar continues to deteriorate and people begin to be priced out of the food market. Global food prices have skyrocketed by as much as 60 per cent in the past year, while UN officials warn of the likelihood of food riots. "If prices continue to rise, I would not be surprised if we began to see food riots, said Jacques Diouf, director-general of the UNs Food and Agriculture Organisation, last October. Many see the food shortages, whether real or manufactured, as simply another pretext for the implementation of martial law and the introduction of foreign troops to patrol major U.S. cities. A recent announcement by Northcom confirmed that U.S. and Canadian troops will be allowed to patrol each other's countries in the event of a national emergency. "U.S. Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart, commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, and Canadian Air Force Lt.-Gen. Marc Dumais, commander of Canada Command, have signed a Civil Assistance Plan that allows the military from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a civil emergency," reads a Northcom press release. |

You better WAKE UP.......and you better get out of those FRNS as soon as you possibly can!!. It dont get much clearer than that..... upwards of 60% increase in the price of staples? and big ben hasnt even dropped the full amount of helicopter money yet do save his buddies?? This is really ,really bad......this is the equvilant of being the first to smell the smoke of a fire in a crowed movie theater. Get up and get to the exit PRONTO ( start hoarding as essential goods ) Prepare......we got to prepare as best we can cause as soon as the hyperinfaltion hits we wont get a second chance. T |

"collecting" "saving"
I like the term hoarding..................sounds like a squirrell putting away his store for the winter:smokin: |
Re: Middle Class May Be Subject To Food Rations, Warns UN
The one advantage to living in Northern California is the staggering quantity, quality, and variety of food grown within an hour of me. I no longer buy fruits and veggies in the stores--I pay a fraction of their prices by buying at the farmers market every weekend. Cheaper, tastier, and healthier (even the Organic stuff is cheaper than the crap in the supermarket bins).
Still, I am salting away. |

Better stock up Unclad Lad... In the last depression agricultural commodities and livestock were illegally confiscated and destroyed while millions of people starved. Big business wanted prices to remain as high as possible on all food stocks and the government gladly helped them. Your location advantage won't count for much when they destroy all the agriculture products around you by force. It happened before,it will happen again. I would cross that idea off my list of possible survival scenarios. Plan for the worst...:yes::yes: The government's definition of hoarding: Any item that can be used, eaten, worn,or traded is considered contraband. They want the entire populace reduced to starving, naked animals. That way you will be considered vermin subject to extermination without a second thought by your friendly UN peacekeepers. |

Point 2. This tactic was used in the Soviet Union but I did not know about it in the US during the Depression. What was the cover story for such flagrant abuse of citizens? |
Re: Middle Class May Be Subject To Food Rations, Warns UN
:rolleyes_m: Cover story ?
The farmers-ranchers sold crops and livestock to the government as part of a whacked out surplus subsidy program back then. Imagine all the soybean and wheat farmers selling their crops to ADM who act as agents for the government.( BTW: They actually do ) ADM stores the processed commodities for future sale to Russia or China. Global prices drop so the government in their benevolent protection of the farm and agri pork barrel cartel rings up ADM and orders all grains in storage destroyed to keep prices artificially high. Yawn...business as usual. The fact that the American taxpayer paid for the original grain the government just destroyed and are now starving is a moot point. You get to finance your own starvation. :bear_w00t::bear_w00t::bear_w00t: That's the short version of why the Great Depression under Hoover got worse every year. The small farmer got crushed and was bought for pennies on the dollar by the large Ag cartels who were paid by our own government NOT TO PLANT crops for the domestic consumer market. You can be the judge of who was the bigger evil: Stalin, who starved his opposition to death for political reasons. Or,the US government who starved their citizens to death for BIG BUSINESS favors and future political contributions, while lying through their teeth to the American citizens. It happened...:yes::yes: |

In fact strong evidence suggests Hitler and Stalin were both progeny of the Banksters. It's the one big evil. Communism = state owned capitalism Fascism = capitalism owned state Same thing really |

Re: Middle Class May Be Subject To Food Rations, Warns UN
What do they mean with "middle class"?
The mexican "middle class", yes, they are screwed unless they cross the border and parasite on the US "welfare" system. The chinese middle class is also screwed, no food for them. China has completely effed up their environment with poison and pollution... |

Re: Middle Class May Be Subject To Food Rations, Warns UN
I'm not saying that storing food isn't important; but aside from your own garden it's good to be aware of what is grown locally. Most of the modern ills have little to do with supply and EVERYTHING to do with distribution. A lot of food was sent to Ethiopia in the 80s, but most of it rotted in warehouses under the careful guard of the local warlord/tribal majority.
Store-bought food in my area has sharply increased in price, but I've seen little increase at the farmers market. Quality is still higher than in the stores, too. With no middlemen or the need to ship it hundreds or thousands of miles away the costs are less. The organic produce costs more, but since the producers of such have far less reliance on petroleum (combines/fertilizers/shipping) their prices haven't climbed much. Another thread on this forum looks at the actions that we can take NOW to prevent or slow the descent we are preparing for. Talk to your neighbors--would any of them be interested in involvement in a co-op that brought them fresh veggies (dairy, meats, etc) on a weekly basis? A lot of farmers are looking to cover their bases, and with a self-selected base of customers who are willing to pay the money up front in exchange for a share of locally-grown food, that can be a reality. Here's one I scroogled: http://www.pickyourown.org/coops.php Here's another: http://www.ncfc.org/ Again, I am not saying "Don't stock up". But if we expect peak oil, recession/stagflation, and crumbling infrastructure to be the norm then the best thing to do is to make as many services and goods be local ones. |

Most of your posts on this subject seem to present a picture of zero hope and no chance. I have yet to see you say much of anything positive or constructive when this topic arises. You might be the only person I've met that's doomier and gloomier than me. So you figure you're just a goner, then? Like I said, just wondering... |
